Changing light, wind moving through vegetation, the smell of earth or dry grass, the subtle shift of colour as the hour changes—all can transform how a familiar landscape is experienced.

I am fascinated by these fleeting conditions that make a place momentarily itself. The starting point is always a sensory experience, a moment of heightened attention rather than a particular view.

In the studio, I build, scrape back and rework—the surface accumulates and erodes much as the landscape itself does.
